Lunchtime Car Sketching

Back in the day, I was obsessed with drawing faces. Maybe because mine had so many flaws, I enjoyed drawing large, sparkling eyes, cute, button noses and plump lips.

Faces always seem to be my go-to subject when I’m in the mood for a quick sketch. Today I snuck away from work and just sat in my car in the rain and drew this face. I wasn’t thinking of anyone in particular when I drew it, nor was I looking at a photo. It’s just a face I made up.

  1. She looks like she has a question she’d like to ask. Must be the eyes. I wonder if it would an interesting challenge for you to try to draw faces of different ethnicities. It seems like eye, nose, mouth and cheekbone features can create all kinds of possibilities.

    1. It’s kind of awkward, now that I think of it, I have only ever drawn Caucasian faces. I drew some African American people in high school when I illustrated The People Could Fly. I think that’s it… hmm. Noted…
